Pineapples to Sunsets

We stopped in at the glass blowers again to see what they were making....

This turtle is fabulous!!!

We got to watch the very beginnings of how they make their creations...

These guys were a team...

I can't imagine the heat as it was super hot from our vantage point!!!

Layer upon layer of molten glass and color was added...

Shaped and formed...

And the end result wold be this beautiful vase...

Then it was over to the pineapple plantation..

Where Brett, our tour guide informed us on pineapple farming..

Starts off the same with summer fallow and pre work...

Planting and irrigation...

Before you know it....like a YEAR later  a baby starts to form...the big one in this picture is an overachiever pineapple....same age as the little ones but way bigger!!!

Each plant only grows one pineapple each year...

These are Maui gold pineapples...

They are super sweet..

Brett was suave with a machete as he prepared

And sacrificed pineapples for us to try..

Then we each picked one and Brett prepared ours..

 Like corn on a cob...

We had our fair share of pineapple!!!

Then it was over to the factory to see how they were packed and shipped...

80 percent stay in Hawaii  and 20 percent to mainland...

Each of us were given a packed pineapple to take home... But we have to eat it before leaving since we can't take it across the border!

There was some big containers of pineapple vodka being stored here from the distillery across the street!!!

Lunch was at the food truck was saw the day before!! They have only been going for 3 weeks!!!

And it came with its own clean up crew...

We were in Kihei to catch our first sunset on the water..

Going....

Going...

Gone!!! Going to try to catch it again tonight!!! Pretty cool!!

Didn't see the green flash though!!!

Aloha
